Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Sirti, a company specialising in telecommunications infrastructures, announced the opening of a collective dismissal procedure for 764 workers, out of a total workforce of 2.700 workers.
The request arrives less than one year after the signing of the agreement at the Ministry of Economic Development, which stopped the previously announced 833 dismissals and foresaw the use of solidarity contracts.
The unions announced a package of four hours of strike, with modalities to be decided at the territorial level. During early talks, the company showed its willingness to replace dismissals with social shock absorbers, but the collective dismissals procedure has not been withdrawn yet.
