Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Farming company Agrícola Aguileña has announced its closure, affecting up to 481 employees. The company, which has debts for millions, has announced the closure after workers started an indefinite strike due the non-payment of their salaries. Negotiations between the company and workers representatives have already started. The closure is expected to be implemented gradually from the end of the negotiations until June 2020. The Government of Murcia has announced special services of the employment public services (SEF and SEPE), that is regular presence, at the company's headquarters, of employment services advisers together with lawyers from UGT and CC.OO. unions to provide useful information to affected workers.
