Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Specialised in high-end leather goods, Arco, the subcontractor of a major luxury brand, is experiencing strong growth due to the success of the luxury sector. Arco announced the recruitment of 100 people in 2020, following the recruiting of 100 people in 2019. Arco has invested €10 million in a new site to support the growth of its business. The number of employees has increased from 350 to 700 in three years, including 180 temporary workers. In need of skilled labour in a highly specialised market, the company trains its own employees and will have 20 people in training on site at all times in 2020.
