European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The supermarket chain Tesco announced its plans to cut 224 jobs throughout a collective dismissal programme. The programme will affect 200 workers in a distribution centre in Teresin and 24 workers in a store in Ostrołęka, which is likely to be shut down. The company plans to carry out the redundancies between 21 November 2019 and 29 February 2020. According to the conditions of the redundancy programme, dismissed workers will receive severance pay. Tesco revealed that the decision was taken due to economic reasons.
Operating in Poland since 1992, the company has around 350 stores across the country and employs nearly 20,000 people. In 2019, the company already announced four other restructuring programmes: January (1,300 jobs cut), June (1,480 jobs cut), August (2,154 jobs cut) and September (2,117 jobs cut).
