Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The American group Xerox announced the closure of the French Impika site, presented as Xerox's worldwide digital inkjet printing reference centre. 141 employees will be dismissed in December 2019. The information was communicated to employees in July. Xerox considered that the business was no longer profitable and repatriated it to the United States. In compliance with the Florange law, which requires that a site be reconverted in the event of closure, Xerox has sent files to various manufacturers. But in the end Xerox has not retained any buyers due to competitiveness reasons. The social plan was validated by the labour inspectorate on 13 November.
