Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Jones Engineering opened a new research and development plant in November 2019, creating 150 new jobs in Carlow, Ireland. Around 50 people have already been hired, an additional 100 to be recruited over the next 18 months. The new positions are in the fields of engineering, design, procurement, logistics, fabrication and transportation.
Jones Engineering works on substantial infrastructure projects in the pharma, healthcare, IT and data industries. The Jones Group employs around 3,500 people worldwide, but the new plant in Carlow is the group's first plant in Ireland. The company has invested €7 million in business expansion.
