Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Mobile phone operator T-Mobile Polska announced its plans to dismiss 294 employees with a collective dismissal plan by the end of the first quarter of 2020. The restructuring event is planned to affect employees in business support areas and in less profitable stores across the country. According to the company's management, the collective dismissal aims at rationalising business processes and improving profitability and financial effectiveness. The company's revenues for the third quarter of 2019 reportedly amounted to PLN 1.61 billion (€375 million), decreasing by 4.5% when compared to the same period of 2018.
Founded in 1990 and owned by Deutsche Telekom, the company rebranded its name from the previous Era to the current one in 2011. As of November 2019, it has a workforce of around 4,300 employees in Poland.
