Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Landesbank Baden-Württemberg (LBBW), the financial institution of the German federal state Baden-Würtemberg, will open a number of new branches, creating 125 new positions, in the upcoming two years. The positions will aim to improve customer service. The business has now reconsidered the programme from 2015, which cut more than 200 positions by shifting from face-to-face services to online self-service and support by appointments. The planned job creation will not compensate for the previous job cuts. The financial institution has now a workforce of around 1,200 employees compared to 1,400 in 2015.
