Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Following a court decision about the acquisition of the Ateliers de construction du Centre ingénierie et maintenance (ACC), specialised in railway renovation, and in the design and manufacture of antenna and turret positioners for the civil and military markets, 225 of the site's 272 employees will be taken over. The ACC was placed in receivership despite a well-filled order book.
On 30 October, the Commercial Court of Clermont-Ferrand agreed on the TTH group and Cegelec Défense as purchasers of the two activities of the ACC based in Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme). For industrial maintenance, the French TTH, which takes over 183 of the 225 employees, was preferred by staff over the Canadian Bombardier, which proposed to take over only 171 people. For the engineering part, Cegelec Défense was preferred to the group NSE.
