Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
During a meeting with trade unions and local institutions at the Ministry of Economic Development, the management of the Dema group, a company active in the manufacturing of aircrafts, announced its intention to dismiss 213 workers employed at its two Brindisi plants and in Somma Vesuviana and Paulisi.
The decision was justified by the high indebtedness level of the company, leaving the business in a difficult financial situation and jeopardising its economic stability.
The trade unions asked the company to stop unilateral initiatives until the next meeting at the Ministry of Economic Development.
The Dema group currently employs 733 workers in Italy.
