Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 26 September 2019, the Wind turbine producer Siemens Gamesa informed the Danish press about plans dimiss up to 600 jobs in Denmark. According to the company, the redundancies are due to the phasing out of the onshore wind division in Brande at the end of 2020, just as Siemens Gamesa's factory in Aalborg will cease production of blades for onshore winds by the end of 2019. Despite the dismissals, the factories in Aalborg and Brande will still exist. The factories still produce offshore wind turbines.
Siemens Gamesa will start negotiations on mitigating the effects of the redundacies with the local Cooperation Committees.
