Description
Austrian steel producer Voestalpine is reducing by 116 jobs the workforce at its subsidiary company Voestalpine Automotive Components in Bunschoten, the Netherlands. At the Bunschoten plant, the company makes bodywork parts for BMW, Volkswagen and Daimler-Benz. Currently around 1,000 people are working in Bunschoten, the job cuts will take the form of redundancies. The steel producer is experiencing issues due to the crisis in the (German) automotive industry, leading to a lower demand of bodywork parts.
Social partners stated they are shocked by the size of the restructuring and are negotiating a social plan with Voelstalpine.
