Description
Automotive components manufacturing company Gestamp HardTech plans to dismiss 55 out of 305 employees based in Luleå, Northern Sweden. The job losses are to be implemented by the end of January 2020.
The company claims that the decision to close the tool manufacturing line derives from low-order volumes and overcapacity as a result of the fast changes in the global vehicle industry. Trade union IF Metall argues that the decision was expected as its production volume has significantly decreased. The trade union wants to proceed with employer-employee negotiations.
In 2018, Gestamp HardTech’s re-organisation in Luleå led to dismissal of 84 employees.
