Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
German car manufacturer Volkswagen announced plans to dismiss up to 750 employees from its sites in Poznań, Swarzędz and Września by the end of 2020. The company aims at investing around PLN 2 billion (€464 million) in the expansion and modernization of its Poznań van factory in 2019 and 2020. Among others, resources are allocated to increase the level of automation level in the plant from the current 42% to 80%, with 450 new robots to be assembled in the welding unit. The investment is expected to affect all three factories operating in the region as well as both production and administrative positions.
The site in Poznań has been operating since 1993.
