Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The telecommunications company Wiko, which sells mobile phones, has announced 90 jobs out of a total workforce of 250 based in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). Departures take the form of a collective contractual termination. In the next few days, 90 people are expected to leave the company. The employees and management have agreed on a supra-legal indemnity of up to 11 months. The company explains it has to cope with Chinese companies' sharp competition .
