Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The automaker Škoda Auto has opened a paint facility at its main factory in Mladá Boleslav. Škoda Auto invested EUR 214.5 million in the new operation and will create more than 650 jobs. The facility is one of the most modern and ecological of its kind in Europe. The new paint shop is part of the company's environmental strategy 'Green Future', focusing on ecological and resource-friendly production. A number of human operations will be replaced by robots in the new paint facility. The most modern technical equipment of the paint facility include, for example, a fully automatic conveyor system for individual bodies during the preparation and application of base paint. This system allows to select specific painting parameters for each car.
Up to 168,000 bodyworks will pass through the paint facility annually, increasing the total car painting capacity to 812,000 units per year.
