Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Logistics company Advanced Supply Chain announced plans the creation of 150 new jobs in a new warehouse, located in Corby, Northamptonshire. The company will invest GBP 2 million (€2.2 million) for the warehouse. It is understood that these positions will support new contracts with e-commerce and high street retailers, for which the new warehouse will handle orders and returns. The company already employs 350 people in the Corby area, and the creation of new jobs will take the total employment figure up to 500. A spokesperson for the business commented that Northamptonshire is a natural logistics hub, so it made sense to increase the workforce in Corby.
