Description
Car producer VDL Nedcar is going to reduce the number of jobs at their factory in Born (Limburg province) and at least 600 job cut have been announced. The company expects a decline in production of cars in 2020, while2018 was a peak year, and thus the need for personnel will also decrease. The reduction in cars production is partly due to the shrinking of the German economy since two thirds of VDL Nedcar's revenues originate from Germany.
On a positive note, VDL's bus division is benefitting from the strong demand for electric transport. The company stated that the transition to electric public transport solutions is developing rapidly and that this year alone, it will supply around 500 electric buses.
