Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Packaging and paper manufacturing company Mondi SCP intends to create more than 100 new jobs at its site in Ruzomberok over the coming 12 months. The business expansion comes from the increase in production capacity to 300,000 tonnes per year due to a new paper machine bought with a €310 million investment. It will produce a new type of paper called 'kraft top white' from recycled paper. Over the past three years, the site has hired 200 new employees, raising the total number of employees to over 1,300. Even though 80% of employees are male, women can increasingly find jobs in the site, according to the communications manager.
Update on 15/6/2021: According to the current information, the company in fact created 125 new jobs.
