Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Telekom Romania, the Romanian affiliate of Deutsche Telekom, has announced plans to cut 692 jobs by the end of 2019. The company aims to accelerate the process of digitalisation and to redesign its internal processes in order to support the integration of new technologies in the next three years.
According to a spokesperson for the company ‘as part of the restructuring process, Telekom Romania maintains that it will apply social protection measures in line with existing legislation’. The unions did not react to the announcement.
Telekom Romania has a workforce of 4,404 employees.
