Ladbrokes owner GVC announced that the closure of its call centre operations in Barking, with the positions expected to move to Gibraltar and Manila. According to reports, staff have been told that the closure of the site in Barking is expected by the end of 2019. GVC acquired the bookmaking company in 2018 and the job cuts follow a review of the business requirements. The decision to cut jobs comes as the gambling industry faces challenging times following changes to the regulatory framework.
