Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The white goods retailer Papino Elettrodomestici announced the start of the collective dismissal procedures for 83 employees employed in some of the group's 32 sales points, of which 31 in Sicily and one in Benevento (Campania).
Dismissals will be particularly concentrated in the provinces of Catania, Messina and Ragusa.
The trade unions, aware of the difficult economic situation faced by the group, had been asking for the use of temporary shock absorber instruments. They deem the decision unexpected and argue they will call a joint examination procedure in order to avoid dismissals and safeguard personnel.
