Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The American online retailer Amazon has announced that it will create over 1,000 jobs at its new distribution centre in Okmiany near Bolesławiec within the next 18 months. The recruitment process has already started; currently, the company is looking for warehouse staff, managers, engineers, HR and IT specialists. The unit, with an area of 60,000 m2, will be the third Amazon’s investment in the region of Lower Silesia. The company employs about 4,000 people in the region.
Amazon, the world’s largest e-commerce company, currently employs around 647,500 employees worldwide. Amazon has been operating in Poland since 2014 and has five distribution centres across the country.
