The car manufacturer Opel will be cutting 1,100 jobs until 2023 Germany due to internal restructuring. After the announcement of large investments at its plants in Rüsselsheim, Kaiserslautern and Eisenach, which will ensure the plants’ future, management informed the employees about the job reduction at the same plants. In Rüsselsheim, Opel will be cutting 600 jobs, in Kaiserslautern 300 jobs and in Eisenach 200 jobs. According to management, cuts are to be realised similar to last year’s restructuring, via voluntary programmes.
Currently, Opel has 16,550 employees in Germany.
