Description
The regional newspaper Sud-Ouest announced a voluntary redundancy plan to cut 132 jobs within a year. The 'Daily life' newspaper is facing major economic difficulties. Every year, this daily newspaper is confronted with a 3-5% decrease in its paper circulation. Of the 132 positions eliminated, 20 journalists will be affected by this departure plan. This plan is part of a strategic plan for the years 2019/2023.
Sud-Ouest currently has 858 employees, including 269 journalists. A previous restructuring was recorded in 2012 with 180 job cuts on a total workforce of 1,100 employees.
