Description
Spanish car components manufacturer Gestamp opened a new production plant in Nitriansky Industrial Park, Slovakia. The investment of €133 million, of which €9 million came from the government through state aid, will create 200 jobs in the plant. The proximity to the production lines of Jaguar Land Rover, which is the company's main customer, motivated the decision to open the new plant. The establishment will produce bodywork and chassis parts for the Discovery and later the Defender models. More than 70% of the production will be aluminium parts. According to Gestamp CEO, this is the company's biggest unit for production of aluminium components and the company's second plant in Slovakia. The other site, operated by its subsidiary Edscha, employs 170 people and operates in Velky Meder since 2010.
