Description
British Gas owner Centrica has announced plans to cut 700 jobs. The job lossesĀ are the latest in a series of cuts which saw 2,000 roles removed in 2018. It is being reported that the latest cuts will be in back office and management roles. The statutory 45-day consultation process with the trade unions is due to begin soon, though it is already being reported that the job losses will take effect sometime over the summer of 2019. A spokesperson for the GMB union condemned the company's strategy of trying to cut its way out of its current difficulties.
