Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Due to the negative results of the meeting for the end of the procedure for collective dismissal, the call centre company Monalisa Contact will proceed with the dismissal of the 101 employees of its Catania seat.
The company, which operates as a call-centre contractor for Vodafone business, will close down its operations in Catania since the balance sheet is in red.
During negotiations with the trade union, the company proposed to transform the 101 open-ended contracts of its employees in coordinated collaborations (i.e. parasubordinate self-employment contracts). The trade unions opposed the proposal.
