Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies (FDB) has announced plans to create 50 new jobs as part of its expansion in North East England. The company which produces biological cultures for the pharmaceutical industry will locate its existing 250 staff in the new facility as well as adding the new jobs. The development of the new Biocampus will be partly supported by a grant of GBP 3.625 million from the Tees Valley Combined Authority. This local development funding will contribute approximately one quarter of the cost of the new facility. It is expected that the new jobs will be filled over a two-year period.
