Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The management of the Défi Mode clothing brand withdrew the Employment Safeguard Plan it had filed to the labour inspectorate. This plan, which provides for the dismissal of 220 employees, must be improved, taking into account the financial situation of the HK group, owner of the Défi Mode brand. The redundancies, which should have occurred at the end of February, were postponed due to the waiting for the validation of the safeguard plan by the labour inspectorate. Pressure from employees has forced management to present a new plan, which will be done in the coming weeks. However, the improved plan should still provide for 220 redundancies at the end of May. 50 positions out of a total of 220 will be cut at the Brioude (Haute-Saône) headquarter. Another company belonging to the HK group was liquidated in April, with 235 job losses.
