Description
The Financial Administration of the Czech Republic has announced to dismiss about 1,100 officials by the end of 2019 under austerity measures in public administration. Given the average wage of tax officials, such savings could reach over CZK 500 million (€19.4 million) a year. Trade unions disagree with the redundancies and make the reorganisation conditional on a reduction in the governance agenda. To exemplify, the Mayor of Stříbra claims that the dismissals will affect many municipalities as the tax offices will be open for the public only specific days. The Financial Administration currently employs around 16,400 people.
