Description

Dudson, the pottery firm based in Stoke-on-Trent in England, entered administration on 4th April, 2019. A total of 318 people were made redundant on the same day and 72 people remain employed until the business is closed down. A representative of the GMB union said that employees had not been consulted and not been given any notice before the company collapsed. The union is now trying to secure a protective award for workers who lost their jobs. Dudson has been manufacturing tableware, glassware and fine china since 1800. The representatives of the administrators at PWC said that the company was no longer 'commercially viable' due to a reduction in sales and increased costs. In March, Wedgwood, the world famous pottery business, which is also based in Stoke-on-Trent, announced job cuts.
