Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Spanish decorative porcelain company group Lladró has announced a collective dismissal plan affecting 81 workers at national level. The company argues that the long-term economic sustainability of the business involves workforce adjustments. Within the Lladró Group, the plan affects 34 employees of the company Porsa, 32 to Lladró, 10 to Daisa and 5 to the company Arte y Porcelanas. This adjustment comes together with the current temporary restructuring plan of employment in the productive areas of the company. In 2016, the Lladró Group implemented another collective dismissal plan that affected 268 employees. Months later, Lladró was sold to the Spanish investment fund PHI Industrial.
