Description
Birmingham City Council has announced plans to make over 1,000 further job cuts. This is the latest among a long line of cuts to council jobs, both in Birmingham and nationally. Reports suggest that 1,095 jobs will be cut before March 2020, though it is not certain as to which roles will be removed. When announcing the cuts, the leader of the council pointed to the large reductions in central government funding which have contributed to the job losses. Despite the economies made the council will still have to sell off assets and to use cash reserves to fund the expected redundancy payments.
