Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Major Polish media group Agora has announced that it will cut up to 153 jobs in two units located in Piła and Tychy through a collective dismissal programme by the end of June 2019. The conditions of the programme will be negotiated with the local trade unions. The restructuring programme will affect employees working primarily for Agora’s printing division as copy sale have been declining over the past years. The move is a response to the current condition of the printed press sector, including the process of digitalisation of the media market.
Agora, publisher of ‘Gazeta Wyborcza’ and owner of an internet portal, has been operating since 1989. The group is one of the largest media companies in Poland.
