Description
Gateshead Council has announced plans to cut 104 jobs. The cuts, which are the latest in a long line of cuts for the council, will be accompanied by council tax rises. There will also be service cuts to libraries and cultural programmes, and higher fees will be introduced for users of social care services. There is no information on when all the job losses are due to take effect, though a spokesperson for the council commented that savings would have to be made immediately.
