Frozen food retailer Iceland has announced plans to close its warehouse in Trafford, Greater Manchester. The decision will result in the loss of 102 jobs. The warehouse was opened only 18 months previously to deal with online demand across the Greater Manchester area, however now the company has stated that the site can no longer operate at a profit. Consultation over the job losses is reportedly underway, but the result appears to be pre-determined, with a final closure date at the end of March 2019 already in the public domain.
Previous restructurings in the UK took place in 2018 (240 jobs created), 2017 (100 jobs created) and 2016 (900 jobs created).
