Description
Rotherham Council has announced plans to cut 175 jobs. The cuts form part of a package to address a budget deficit of 30 million GBP (€35.1 million), and the job losses are expected to take place by 2020. It has not been reported as to whether the council will offer an enhanced redundancy package for those affected.
The cuts will also be accompanied by a rise in council tax of nearly 3%. A spokesperson for the council assured the public that the cuts would not affect services for children and vulnerable adults, which have been hugely improved over recent years.
