Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Lithuania's wood industry company Vakaru medienos grupe intends to create 150 new jobs in Akmene by the end of 2020. Vakaru medienos grupe plans to build a new particle board factory and a new furniture production facility in Akmene free economic zone. The company has already started recruitment of new employees. The company is looking for safety specialists, IT specialists, technologists and other specialists. According to the management, the board factory will start operating in the first quarter of 2020. The total investment in Akmene will amount to €180 million. The company will create around 1,000 new jobs by the end of 2024. Currently the company employs 131 employees.
