German global discount supermarket chain Lidl has announced plans to create 250 positions at its new distribution centre in Oosterhout, Gelderland. The unit, which will supply about 70 supermarkets in the region, is one of the largest Lidl distribution centres in Europe and also one of the most sustainable; it covers an area of 54,000 square metres and is equipped with 2,700 solar panels on its roof. According to the company, the building will eventually have 8,000 solar panels and will operate solely on renewable energy.
