Description
Following the cancellation of two deals to build two new nuclear power stations, energy company Horizon Nuclear Power has launched a redundancy process. The company was involved with the design and building of the new Wylfa plant on Anglesey and the design of a new plant at Oldbury on Severn. The news means that between 300 and 380 workers will be made redundant - 300 from the head office in Brockworth, Gloucestershire, 50 at Anglesey and 30 at Oldbury. There has been no timescale reported for the redundancies. Unions have expressed dismay over the cancellation. Greenpeace stated that the government is realising that renewables rather than nuclear are the future.
