Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Swedish house manufacturer Hjältevadshus, working in the construction sector, has announced plans to dismiss 100 employees. The cuts will affect both back office jobs and collective employees, located in the cities of Hjältevad and Hultsfred. According to the CEO of the company the job losses were set out because the production capacity was higher than demand. Since 2012, the company had quadrupled its volume and the number of employees, moving from 60 employees in 2012 to about 250 in 2018.
