Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Dyer Engineering, based in Stanley, County Durham, has announced plans to create 100 new jobs following an investment of nearly two million GBP (€2.2 million). The money has been raised from private sources as well as regional development money from the North East Development Fund and the Finance Durham Fund. The business manufactures metal components for use in various sectors and operates over two sites. There is no precise indication of when the new jobs are expected to be added, though the reports suggest that the investment is part of a long term development of the business.
