Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The management of Carrier Khéops Bac, a company specialised in industrial connectivity, has announced a reorganisation plan that will lead to the cut of 141 jobs out of a total of 161 at the Allonnes site near Le Mans (Sarthe). According to the mayor of the city of Allonnes the company explained that this social plan is due to the decline in activity of the Offshore division. But it's difficult to accept that the rail department, the most important, the most profitable and which works with Alstom and SNCF (two national companies), would be relocated to Poland. Another source added that part of the production will be transferrred to Texas (USA).
Carrier Khéops Bac belongs to the group TE Connectivity, which employs about 90,000 people worldwide.
