Description
Hungarian MOL, the largest shareholder in the oil company INA, will dismiss around 400 to 500 workers based in Sisak during the first half of 2019. The company said it is willing to deal with the dismissals in a socially responsible way.
The company obtained the approval of the Croatian Management Board members for a new business plan. It foresees the concentration of crude oil processing in the refinery in the City of Rijeka and the transformation of the refinery in the City of Sisak into an industrial centre with alternative activities to be defined. The topic of the closure of the refinery in Sisak has for long time been in the focus of political public debate. This is additionally sensitive because of the unresolved relations between the Government of Croatia and MOL about governance and ownership of INA. Many domestic experts support such measure because the INA's Refinery in Sisak has caused financial losses for a long time.
