Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Kathrein, a multinational company in the field of communication technology will streamline its business operations and in line with this will cut 250 jobs in Rosenheim, Bavaria. Kathrein plans to streamline the Products business unit and adapt further central functions to future requirements. The jobs will be cut by the end of 2019. Together with the works council and IG Metall union, the company is working on socially acceptable solutions for affected employees, which are to be presented at the beginning of 2019.
Previous restructuring took place in 2017, when 280 jobs were lost.
