Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Commercial fish food manufacturer Skretting has announced plans to close all of its UK operations, resulting in the loss of more than 100 jobs. The closure is said to be related to UK unsustainable market conditions of overcapacity and low prices. The Norwegian owned company has sites at Preston, on Shetland, Invergordon and a head office in Norwich. Approximately half the losses will occur at the Invergordon factory. A spokesperson for Skretting stated that Brexit was not a factor in the decision.
