Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Double glazing firm Safeglaze, based in Bradford, has entered administration. The company, which designed, manufactured and installed UPVC windows and doors, operated eight sites across UK. The administrators announced that the company would cease trading and that all 132 jobs would be made redundant with immediate effect. Entering administration is reported to be due to the company's inability to service its contracts as a result of over-rapid growth which suppliers were not able to service. The administrators stated that they will support employees claim what is due to them from the Redundancy Payment Service.
