Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Finnish wind turbine manufacturer Aluwind has announced plans to close its factory in Ringe, which was inaugurated in 2008, due to fierce competitiveness in the business, decrease in prices and fluctuations in the market demand. As a result, 100 out of the 115 employees at the site will be made redundant by April 2019. The company will move its production to China and Poland, where it already operates. The remaining 15 employees will work in sales, logistics and other group functions.
