Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Cheese maker and fresh produce Fromarsac has announced the 32 job cuts in its site at Marsac (Dordogne) out of a total workforce of 310 employees. The job cuts do not concern the production unit but about 10% of the various administrative positions: payroll managers, sales assistants, accountants. These positions are suppressed and recentralised, for some in Condé-sur-Vire (Manche) and for others in the Parisian region, according to the CFDT union which also highlights that similar announcements have been made on other sites of the Savencia group to which Fromarsac belongs. According to the press release published by Savencia, a reorganisation was presented at Europe wide level to the employee representative bodies, which concerns 'in particular the closure of a plant and the pooling of expertise within shared service centres'. However, no more detailed information is available.
